Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has said some
of the over 200 Chibok school girls kidnapped in Borno state will never
return back home.
Obasanjo made this statement, yesterday Ocotber 5 while speaking at the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Corporation.
He said: “I believe that some of them will never return. We will
still be hearing about them many years from now, some will give birth to
children of the Boko Haram members, but if they cannot take care of
them in the forest, they may release them.” Obasanjo said.
It would be recalled that the Chibok girls were kidnapped by the dreaded Boko Haram sect on April 14 in Borno state.
While there are reports that some of the girls escaped, quite a large number of them are reportedly still being held captives.
Meanwhile fresh reports recently emerged that the International
Committee of the Red Cross and the Nigerian government are holding
secret talks with the dreaded Boko Haram sect to swap some of the Boko
Haram prisoners for the abducted Chibok girls, UK Telegraph reports.
