Travellers Attacked In Jos, 1 Killed, 4 Missing

Some travellers were attacked by irate youths on Saturday night, May 24 at the Rayfield area of Jos, Plateau State, shortly after the blast which killed three.

A suicide bomber was transporting bomb but it went off before he could reach his destination, a viewing center where hundreds gathered to watch a football game, European Champions League final (Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid).

One person was killed during the attack while four others are missing.

According to report, the victims were residents of Gude village in Akwanga LGA of Nassarawa State and were on their way back from a Maulud event in Gombe State.

Recounting what happened, one of the survivors, named Bashir Abdulkadir said they had arrived Jos at about 9.30pm but were stopped by security personnel at the Bauchi Ring Road who said there had been a bomb explosion within the city and so they could not go in through Bauchi Road.

They also met other stranded passengers in vehicles and then one security man suggested they take the Bauchi ring road route which leads to British America Junction.

Their driver, Uba Tanko, mistakenly, followed Lamingo road and that was how they fell into the hands of some Berom youths who blocked the road, hit their vehicle and asked them to come out of the car.

"They started beating us all over and we dispersed into the bush and some of us jumped into a stream close by and they killed our driver as he could not run because he had a problem with his leg.

"I jumped into a stream but I was unable to escape. They caught me and continued to beat me. One of them used a catapult at close range and broke my tooth. They even decided to lynch me with a tyre but some men who arrived in a military vehicle rescued me," Bashir said.

They were arrested by the soldiers and evacuated to a police station close to the Air Force headquarters.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Special Task Force (STF), Captain Ikedichi Iweha said, "There were skirmishes around Rayfield Resort which the timely intervention of our personnel rescued. One person was killed and we made some arrests and handed them over to the police for prosecution."

Meanwhile, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, said he was not aware of the incident except skirmishes around Lamingo road and the matter was still under investigation.

Security Confirms Boko Haram Kills 20 In Waga village

Despite the state of emergency declared in Adamawa State, a government official on Monday confirmed that about 20 people were on Sunday slaughtered in Waga village by members of the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

A resident, who gave his name as Ahmed Soji, said the assailants believed to be sect members were heavily armed when they attacked the christian dominated village.  

"The gunmen believed to be Boko Haram insurgents in trucks and on motorcycles attacked the village where they killed 20 people and burnt several houses" he said. "The whereabouts of several other people are still unknown but it is assumed they fled into the bush to escape the attack and are yet to return". 

Soji disclosed that the sect members also launched an attack on Gublak, a neighbouring village but were repelled by soldiers who were on ground in the area.

It would be recalled that the federal government recently imposed emergency rule on three troubled northeastern states - Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

Meanwhile, among these three states, Adamawa state has witnessed series of dealy attacks from the sect members. In February, it was reported that about 34 people were slain, several houses were razed during the coordinated bombing and shooting assault on Shuwa, Kirchiga and Michika, a border town with Borno State.

The sect members are also responsible for the kidnap of over 234 female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok Borno State. They repeatedly attack vulnerable villages, burning houses, killing residents and looting food from their helpless victims.

Photos From Suicide Bomb Attack In Jos, Plateau State

The specialists of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have completed their work at the scene of Bauchi Road bomb blast in Jos, Plateau State.

According to the latest report, the suicide bomb attack claimed four lives. Three victims died on the spot on May 24, 2014, Saturday, while one more body was discovered on Sunday morning.

It would be noted that the death toll could have been huge, up to 400, as the lone bomber targeted a viewing centre, where hundreds of football fans gathered to watch Real Madrid VS Atletico Madrid UEFA Champions League final.

The terrorist was not familiar with the area well and the roads close to the centre were barricaded, therefore he failed to reach the crowded place in time. The bomb went off earlier than programmed, near one of the houses in the neighbourhood where the bomber stopped his Honda Odyssey car.

It would be recalled that relative calmness in the city of Jos was ended one week ago, on May 20, 2014, when two bombs went off in the crowded market area, killing from 118 to 200 people.

Though none of terrorist groups claimed the responsibility for the attacks, it is highly possible that they indicate the spread of Boko Haram insurgency outside the tree troubled North-eastern states being under the state of emergency rule for over a year.

Do you wear pants to bed? Many women would likely answer in the affirmative. However, experts say when a woman does so on a daily basis when it’s not necessarily because she is having her period, there may be untoward side effects to it!
Physicians aver that the female genital needs to breathe in order to maintain its PH levels and prevent fungi and odour. And that’s why doctors advise going bare below when it’s bed time at the close of day.
"With BV, there is an increase in harmful bacteria and a decrease in good bacteria. BV is the most common vaginal infection in women of child-bearing age."
Part of the problem, says Family Physician, Dr. Grace Obong, is that during the day, women wear a variety of panties and tight outfits that hardly allow their privates to breathe. She says though it’s advisable and absolutely preferable to wear cotton panties, many women still opt for polyester panties, with the attendant heating up of the genital area while the day lasts.
And as for those who may not like to go to sleep without having pants on, Obong recommends wearing of boxers or pyjamas.
Bacterial vaginosis
Talking about the need to maintain the PH levels of the vagina, experts at womenshealth.gov say the vagina normally has a balance of mostly “good” bacteria and fewer “harmful” bacteria. However, a condition, called bacterial vaginosis, develops when the balance changes.
Obong says women with BV may have an abnormal vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odour, while some women may complain of a strong fish-like odour, especially after sex.
“The discharge can be white (milky) or gray. It may also be foamy or watery. Other symptoms may include burning when urinating, itching around the outside of the vagina, and irritation; while some women with BV have no symptoms at all,” she adds.
Yeast infection
To further underscore the negative effects of wearing panties to bed, online portal, Medline Plus, also notes that too much moist in the female genital area can lead to vaginal yeast infection, most commonly due to the fungus Candida albicans.
“Wearing tight underwear or a pair made from polyester or some other material that doesn’t breathe can lock in moisture and lead to yeast infections,” the warning goes.
Again, Certified Sexuality Counselor, Evelyn Resh, says, “I do not recommend that women wear underwear to bed. Taking a break from underwear for the eight or so hours that you’re asleep gives you an opportunity to ‘air-out’ down there! Best to have an underwear-free zone while sleeping.”
And while yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted illness, physicians say some men will develop symptoms such as itching and a rash on the penis after having sexual contact with an infected partner.
The symptoms of yeast infection are as obnoxious as they are embarrassing, and they include abnormal vaginal discharge, which ranges from a slightly watery, white discharge to a thick, white, chunky discharge; painful intercourse, painful urination, redness and swelling of the vulva; and itching in the vagina and the labia. You may also feel burning sensation when you have yeast infection.
Go natural
The online physician, Dr. Mehmet Oz, counsels, “It’s time to go au naturel. You don’t want it to be so moist down there. Let it dry out a little bit.” The reason for this timely advice, Oz says, is because the underpants can abrade on your skin a little bit, and can cause pimples. And you don’t want that

Man kills 12-year old niece for ritual in Imo State

Thirty five-year old Boniface Ohakwe is now cooling his heels in police custody for allegedly killing his 12-year old niece, Miss Kelechi Ohakwe, for ritual intents.
According to Vanguard, late Kelechi was a student of Sir Enoch Anyanwu Memorial Convent, Umuariam, Obowo local council area of Imo State.
Confirming the ugly incident to newsmen when they besieged the Umuosochie, Obowo country home of the bereaved family, Kelechi’s father, Mr. Alex Ohakwe, said he lacked words to amply describe what the entire family was passing through.

“I am aware that Kelechi was very fond of his uncle and was ever ready to run errands for him before this incident. It is baffling that it was the same man my daughter loved and helped that ended up killing her for supposed ritual purposes”, the aggrieved man lamented.

Recalling what happened on the ill-fated day, Mr. Ohakwe said..

 “My children moved into my brother’s room as soon as public power supply was restored. I was told that he started smoking midway into the film he was rolling for the children”.

Continuing, Ohakwe recalled that not being comfortable with the smoke, my son and daughter left the room, while Kelechi who was used to her uncle’s behaviour remained behind.

“My brother then locked his door after the two children left his room. The wailing and shouting for help, attracted the attention of my wife and other members of the family and they rushed to the scene”, Ohakwe recounted with grief.

Continuing, Ohakwe said his brother carefully wrapped the slain Kelechi with his bed sheet and started chasing his wife with a cutlass but was overpowered.Answering another question, Ohakwe said the matter was not only reported to the police but that the assailant was equally handed over to law enforcement agents.
Efforts to get police confirmation of the incident ailed as the Police Public Elations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, did not pick the calls put across to him or returned any, as at the time of going to press

Hacker Remotely Switches On Bedroom Webcam Of Miss Teen USA And Takes Her Nude Photos

For one year, a hacker spied on Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf through her computer’s webcam.
The man, who went to high school with Wolf, downloaded software for about $40, “creepware,” that let him manipulate her web camera without her knowing.
He listened to private conversations she had in her bedroom with her family and took nude photos of her changing clothes.

Wolf is one of half-a-million people who have been victims of creepware. Ninety-seven people were recently arrested for spying with the software, called Blackshades Remote Access Tool.
Wolf says the hacker sent her an email with three attachments, notifying her that he had the nude images and threatening to make them public. He also put a tracker on her email account so he could tell when she opened the message, Wolf told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
When Wolf first read the email she says she “threw her iPhone across the room.”
“[My mom] and I were in tears and in shock,” she told Cooper. “We couldn’t believe that this really could happen.” The pair contacted the police. She’s since put tape over her webcam and closes her computer whenever she isn’t on it. Wolf warns others to do the same.
The hacker, Jared James Abrahams of Temecula, California, was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

“Your bedroom is your most private and intimate space,” Wolf said. “To think that someone was watching me in my bedroom for a year and had all my most intimate moments,  he had conversations I had had with my mom and my brother, and knew everything about my life — someone can have access to all of that by your computer.”

Man, 36, Electrocuted as Fire Guts 20 Shops in Lagos

Goods worth several millions of naira were yesterday destroyed by fire which gutted a market at the Low Cost Housing Estate, Oke-Afa, in Ejigbo Local Council Developmental Area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that 20 shops were affected by the fire suspected to have been caused by power upsurge.
This came as tragedy struck, weekend, in Ikorodu area of Lagos State following the electrocution of a man by a high tension wire that snapped.
It was learnt that an alarm was raised by a night guard, who noticed smoke billowing from one of the shops moments after power was restored, following which youths in the area battled to contain the situation.
But their efforts were in vain as the fire spread to other shops, where power generating sets were kept.
The youths, it was gathered, forced  some of the shops  open and took the goods to safer place. Some  shop owners, who were contacted reportedly  rushed to the scene to salvage some of their wares. While some of them succeeded, many others did not.
When we visited the scene at 3 p.m., yesterday, the affected shop owners were seen lamenting their  loses.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire Service Director, Mr Rasaq Fadipe, said when news of the incident reached them, two trucks from Isolo and Ikotun fire stations were drafted to the scene to put out the fire, adding that no life was lost.
Electrocution
The deceased identified as Ahamed Abas, was reportedly in the company of an undisclosed friend inside a commercial bus at 5.45a.m., Saturday.
On reaching Disu Ajegbe Street, the duo reportedly saw a high tension  wire which snapped from a pole and resulted in a fire.
The fire, according to the Lagos State Fire Service Director, Rasaq     Fadipe, was spreading towards an auto parts shop.
Fadipe said an eye witness narrated that Abas  alighted from the commercial bus and attempted to throw the wire away from the auto parts shops, with his bare hand, only to be electrocuted
