Armed robbers, in the early hours of yesterday stormed the Christ the
King Pentecostal Church, along Ezenei Avenue in Asaba, Delta State
during a prayer vigil, carting away with church instruments and the sum
of N150, 000 cash.
According to eye-witnesses, the hoodlums
numbering over eight, armed with AK47 and other dangerous weapons, drove
into the area in a Hilux van with no registration number, disguised as
worshipers, in order to gain the attention of the prayer warriors.
Some
members of the church who spoke to Leadership revealed that the stolen
money was part of donations made during the service last Sunday, in
order to speed-up completion of the church building.
Over the
past few months there have been reports of these dare devil armed
robbers turning Churches to their new target for their robbery
operations.
In March it was reported that no fewer than 15 armed
robbers invaded the Christ Apostolic Church in Alagbado, Lagos State,
carting away with about 40 phones and money estimated at N2m.
A
similar incident occurred few weeks after the Lagos robbery as six armed
robbers invaded the Vine Branch church in Ibadan in an attempt to steal
the Sunday service offering.Armed Robbers Storm Church, Cart Away
